Player acestream for mac1/5/2023 ![]() ![]() It's relatively empty right now but feel free to drop by if you have anything to say or want to help out. ![]() Shameless plug: we've set up an official subreddit at r/sodaplayer. They fixed a lot of networking issue in their latest version. ![]() Technical note: we're using the latest version of the acestream engine (not the one used by that famous Kodi addon, or the wine build that you can find online). Note 2: Soda Player has support for tvOS 10.2+ (the device verification thingy) for a while now, so no worry about that, it will work like a charm. You may have seen acestream links in the wild, they look like this: acestream://c42811e3efd72d5bdf3d2270976469fe5c0771ae (don't try this one, it's just an example link). Their official app is quite sketchy though (and Windows-only) but the protocol is performant and widely used. Note 1: for those of you who don't know about AceStream, it is by far the most widely used peer-to-peer live streaming protocol (think of torrents for live videos/events). You can download the app/update, or read more about it, at We would really like to hear if it works for you, or if you encounter any bugs. It's as easy as opening the app, then copy/pasting the acestream link. This works on Mac (and Windows), and obviously AirPlay'ing is fully supported (Chromecast'ing as well). Step 1- Download and install Soda Player on your Mac device. Here, we will be using football links as references. We thought this would be of interest for some of you (especially Mac users): we've just released a version that natively supports AceStream (acestream:// links). Since Acestream media player is not supported on Mac devices, we will be making use of third-party media streaming apps to play Acestream links on Mac. ![]()
